I've been buying gems for over 30 years. It's my job, but no less a pleasure for being so. Inevitably when I am out and about I get distracted by things that pique my curiosity. A string of something rare and exotic. A gemstone I've never seen before. A lapidary keen to show a new cut. There's always something new to see, new to learn. And the really great thing about jewellery is that 'really interesting' doesn't have to mean 'really expensive'. Some of the most exotic things don't cost much because they simply never make it into the public eye. As a self-confessed magpie for glittery objects, I regularly fall to temptation and buy things just because I like them. It's pure indulgence on my part as they will never appear in our catalogue and so we then offer them to you at a fraction of the price they should retail for. Economic? Not really, but fun to do. And frankly it's just a pleasure handling some of these things and seeing them go to a good home.
